A practical, modern approach to measuring what actually matters
Metrics for product managers gives teams a practical approach to defining and using metrics that reflect real customer and business value. Designed for team training, the class uses examples tailored to your industry and product context, from consumer products and enterprise SaaS to AI-enabled systems.
Teams learn how effective measurement supports better decisions, clearer priorities, and alignment as products and organisations scale.
Key questions addressed
This class is designed to help participants answer the following questions in their own context
- How do we define metrics that reflect real customer and business value, including in AI-enabled products where outcomes may be probabilistic or subjective?
- How do we define metrics that reflect real customer and business value, includ
ing in AI-enabled products where outcomes may be probabilistic or subjective?
- What common metric failure modes, risks, and unintended consequences should teams anticipate as products and organisations scale?
- How do we operationalise and evolve metrics across teams and systems over time to support action, learning, and alignment?

From the course creator
“As a product leader for more than a decade, I’ve learned that the best product teams don’t just track metrics, they understand what those metrics are actually incentivising. This class helps product managers learn how to choose metrics that truly reflect value, and how to adapt them as products and constraints change.”

What to expect from our training format
With our product management training, you’ll experience our industry-leading curriculum, coaching from expert trainers, and learn live with product peers — all in a fully interactive format.
Each live class combines lectures, group discussions, Q&As, and activities designed for hands-on learning and real-time application.
Our public cohorts currently run remotely across two half-day sessions. Team Training classes can be delivered remotely or in person, with flexible timing and cadence to suit your team. Remote sessions are hosted via Zoom and supported by digital collaboration tools.
Expected outcomes
You will leave this class equipped to:
- Define and evolve metrics that reflect real customer and business value, suited to their product context and industry.
- Align teams around shared outcomes by using metrics that clarify priorities and support better decisions as products scale.
- Design and apply effective metric systems, including North Star Metrics, leading indicators, and guardrails, in day-to-day product work.
- Assess whether metrics are encouraging the right behaviours and adapt measurement approaches when constraints, risks, and maturity change.
- Communicate metrics clearly and confidently to different audiences across the organisation.
- Combine quantitative signals with critical thinking and professional judgment to evaluate progress and make sound decisions across both traditional and AI-enabled products.
- Build a durable foundation for responsible measurement that supports continuous learning and sustained effectiveness as teams and organisations evolve.

"As a UX Researcher, I left with a profound appreciation for the product management perspective. It was incredibly helpful to witness, first-hand, the detailed considerations PMs undertake to define metrics that truly measure our team's progress. Understanding the multi-layered thought process behind identifying the ‘North Star’ and its supporting metrics has definitely strengthened my empathy and collaboration with our PMs."

"This workshop prompted us to really rethink the way we were using metrics; from having them simply as a must-have planning and strategy tool, to truly integrating them as part of the product. We’re now able to focus better on what we can actually impact with our work."
