Product management is amid a seismic shift. Though our discipline is decades-old, it’s become critical to the strategy guiding both the largest companies in the world and the smallest.

The introduction of more accessible AI technology is only partially to credit. The concepts of product-led growth and product operating models, in which digital products become the primary vehicle for delivering value for customers and growth for the business, are now rampant. According to a recent survey of Mind the Product readers, 88% of companies are on a journey to become product-led. That includes traditional businesses like Qatar Airlines and OneAdvanced, a 40-year-old government software provider, whose leaders we profile below.

But AI is a significant contributor to the shifts taking place in our field. Our survey finds that 54% of companies are already leveraging AI to deliver new customer experiences, including companies as diverse as research software provider Clarivate, real estate innovator Houseful, and The Financial Times.

Product leaders are at the helm of that innovation. They are leading the experiments, shepherding users, driving growth, and guiding organisation-wide transformation. They ensure innovation aligns to business goals, so their companies can be successful into the future.

"The rise of AI is making the world a fiercely competitive place,” says Amanda Grant, chief product officer of OneAdvanced and the subject of one of our profiles. “Organisations can no longer afford to ignore the commercial potential of their products."

Today, we’re introducing a new series of profiles spotlighting product people who are driving transformation for their companies in the age of AI. They share how their roles have evolved, how they structure their teams and collaborate with customers and stakeholders, and what they are learning as they launch new AI features into the world. We will add to this project in coming weeks and months, diving into the key roles on today’s product teams as our field evolves and grows in influence.
