Brendan Hunt is a 2X Emmy award-winning actor, screenwriter and playwright best known for co-creating the international hit Apple TV series “Ted Lasso” with Jason Sudeikis, Joe Kelly and Bill Lawrence. As part of the ensemble cast, portraying Ted’s trusted assistant, ‘Coach Beard,’ the show has won consecutive Emmy Awards for Outstanding Comedy Series, a Peabody Award and many others.

Most recently, Hunt completed two sold-out runs of his critically acclaimed one-man autobiographical show “The Movement You Need.” The show debuted at the Soho Playhouse in Manhattan, followed by a run at Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre this past April which it has already garnered two Jeff Awards wins and 2 more nominations. It is currently eyeing a Broadway debut.

He has twice been nominated for LA Theatre’s Ovation Awards, winning once for best actor in a musical. His two plays, “Absolutely Filthy” and “The Art Couple,” both had sold-out Los Angeles runs, with the former winning “Best Show” at both the Hollywood Fringe Festival and the New York International Fringe Festival.

A Chicago native and a veteran of sketch and improv comedy, Hunt’s first professional gig was as a performer and writer with Amsterdam’s Boom Chicago, where he performed with Sudeikis, Seth Meyers, Jordan Peele, Ike Barinholtz, Amber Ruffin, Heather Anne Campbell and many more. His solo show about that experience, “Five Years in Amsterdam,” debuted at IO West in Los Angeles and went on to be performed at the Edinburgh Fringe, UCB LA, UCB NY, Second City ETC and the HBO US Comedy Arts Festival.

His time in Amsterdam gave him a passion for football that would eventually prove life-changing, leading not only to “Ted Lasso” but also to his role as co-host of Apple News’ World Cup podcast “After the Whistle” with NBC Sports’ Rebecca Lowe. During this year’s 2026 World Cup, the podcast achieved massive success by delivering top-ranked in-studio analysis.

Hunt’s TV and film credits include “Bless This Mess,” “Community,” “Parks and Rec,” “Key and Peele” and the indie science fiction film “Terrestrial.” He also voiced ‘Gunther Melmac’ in Pixar’s “Elio.”
