Matt LeMay Author, Product Management in Practice

Matt LeMay is the author of Agile for Everybody (O’Reilly Media, 2018) and Product Management in Practice (O’Reilly Media, 2017). He has helped build and scale product management practices at companies ranging from early-stage startups to Fortune 500 enterprises.

He is the co-founder and partner at Sudden Compass, a consultancy that has helped organizations like Spotify, Clorox, and Procter & Gamble put customer centricity into practice. In his work as a technology communicator, Matt has developed and led digital transformation and data strategy workshops for companies like GE, American Express, Pfizer, McCann, and Johnson & Johnson.

Previously, Matt worked as Senior Product Manager at music startup Songza (acquired by Google), and Head of Consumer Product at Bitly. Matt is also a musician, recording engineer, and the author of a book about singer-songwriter Elliott Smith.

Jimena Almendares Product Executive, Facebook

Jimena is a product executive at Facebook working on cross-functional projects as part of the Facebook App Leads team. Previously, she was the Vice President of Global Expansion at Intuit. She also led the Payments Business and the Quickbooks Money Movement Platform product team (16th largest acquirer in the US), while concurrently serving as CEO and President of Intuit Payments Inc. a subsidiary overseeing licensed money transmission activities for Mint and Quickbooks.

As OkCupid’s Chief Product Officer, she served as one of two C-level executives leading the company through its IPO as part of the Match Group (MTCH- $1.1B 2016 revenue), directly managing the product, design, front-end development, app development, marketing, and customer support teams.

She has an MBA from MIT, and an MA and a BA from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris and was recently awarded the 2020 Fast Company Queer 50, 2019 Latino Leadership Award (by the Silicon Valley Business Journal) and the 30 Under 40 (by Expansión/CNN Magazine Mexico). Growing up in Mexico, she was a three-time national ice-skating champion.

Christian Idiodi Partner, SVPG

Christian has been a product leader for over 15 years, building teams and developing enterprise and consumer products that have shaped companies such as CareerBuilder and Merrill Corporation as well as clients such as Starbucks, CarMax, and Macy’s.

Christian is passionate about helping companies implement the discipline of product management to build world-class products and new technologies. At CareerBuilder, Christian founded and managed CareerBuilder Institute, the industry’s first combined human capital and consumer training platform, creating a new stream of revenue for the company.

As VP of Enterprise Product at Snagajob, Christian conceptualized a new-to-market solution and led the discovery, development, and successful launch of the ReadyHire business line. He designed and led the B2B product strategy for IdentityForce, a leading provider of identity, privacy, and credit protection for individuals, businesses, and government agencies. He then founded Firtsi, a product consulting company that has overseen the product development lifecycle from ideation to launch for over 120+ new products.

Before joining Silicon Valley Product Group, Christian was the Global Head of Product for Merrill Corporation. Christian built the company’s product organization and led them through a transformational, large-scale industry launch of the first SaaS app for due diligence in the finance industry.

Christian teaches product management and innovation at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. He also gives back to his local product community each year by supporting and advising two student-led startups from conceptualization to product delivery.

Gibson Biddle Former VP Product, Netflix

Gibson Biddle teaches graduate-level entrepreneurship and product management courses at both Stanford and INSEAD and is an adviser to a half-dozen Silicon Valley startups. He also gives product leadership talks and workshops around the world.

Gib began his career as a producer at Electronic Arts, then sold his first startup, Creative Wonders, to The Learning Company (TLC). He helped TLC, an educational software company to grow, then sold the company to Mattel for $3.5B. In 2005, Gib joined Netflix as VP of Product and in 2007, launched the video streaming service that more than 180 million members know and love today.

In 2010, Gib joined his next startup, Chegg. Chegg has helped students save nearly a billion dollars by enabling students to rent textbooks instead of buying them. In 2012, Gib launched “Chegg Study,” a monthly homework help service that millions of students use each year to save time, money, and get smarter. Chegg went public in 2013 and now has a market cap of $7B.

Nancy Douyon Design Ethicist & Product Philosopher

Nancy Douyon is a trailblazer in human experience design with over 15 years of industry experience building scalable user research platforms and revitalizing user interfaces at leading companies such Uber, Google, IBM, Cisco, and Intel. Throughout her career, Nancy has gained a reputation for delivering big results in a culturally honest and purposeful way with hundreds of products deployed in over 80 countries worldwide. She consults globally on remote user research methods and development in emerging markets. Her past research examined design frameworks around the promotion, development, and implementation of global policies around user experiences in tech.

Nancy is currently developing the Douyon Research Institute, Silicon Valley’s first social enterprise research institute focused on bridging the gap between mental health and tech innovations. She is proudly Haitian, has traveled to over 70 countries, and speaks fluent sarcasm. In her spare time, she lectures on user experience methodologies, dances in Carnivals all over the place, and lives her best life as written in her forthcoming book.

April Dunford Author, Obviously Awesome

April is an expert marketing practitioner turned executive consultant and author who helps technology companies make complicated products easy for customers to understand and love. She is a globally recognized expert in Positioning and Market strategy.

Previously April has run marketing and sales teams at a series of successful technology startups and has launched 16 products into market. As a result of her work on positioning and repositioning these organisations in the market, those companies have seen significant growth in sales and value. At Janna Systems for example, she was responsible for all marketing and repositioned a company selling database software with $1 million revenue, into a BI business and sales grew to over $70 million per annum in 18 months before being sold to Siebel for $1.7 billion. She’s also a board member, investor, and advisor to dozens of high-growth businesses and is the author of Obviously Awesome: How to Nail Product Positioning so Customers Get it, Buy it, Love it.
