The Opportunity
As Head of Product, you'll be the strategic product leader driving Plotpackers through its next growth phase. You'll be an engineering thought leader, own the product roadmap, guide our offshore development team, and lead the launch of our AI-powered creator marketplace, all while helping us expand beyond our budget backpacker roots into new customer segments.
This role is equal parts technical leadership, product strategy, and commercial acumen. You'll work directly with our founder Louise to translate our ambitious vision into reality, making high-impact decisions that shape the future of sustainable adventure travel.
What You'll Do
Technical Leadership
Provide strategic technical direction to our offshore development team in India, managing across time zones
Translate business requirements into clear technical specifications and user stories
Own quality standards, product delivery timelines, and technical decision-making for new feature development
Leverage acquired IP and tech stack effectively to accelerate development and maintain competitive advantage
Product Strategy & Vision
Define and own the product roadmap to support Plotpackers' growth
Lead the development and launch of our AI-powered creator marketplace connecting influencers with travelers
Drive product innovation to expand beyond budget backpackers into new customer segments while preserving brand values
Balance feature development with commercial outcomes, ensuring every product decision drives retention, conversion, or revenue
Go-to-Market & Product Marketing
Develop product positioning, messaging, and launch strategies that resonate with our community-driven audience
Work cross-functionally with operations and marketing to ensure seamless product rollouts
Use data and customer insights to inform product decisions and measure success
Champion the voice of the customer throughout the product development lifecycle
What We're Looking For
Essential Experience
5-6+ years of product management experience, with at least 2 years in a product leadership role
Proven track record scaling a product through hypergrowth
Experience working with offshore or distributed technical teams
Strong product marketing instincts - you understand positioning, launch strategy, and customer psychology
Technical fluency to provide strategic direction without needing to build yourself
Highly Valued
Marketplace or platform experience (two-sided networks, creator economy, travel tech)
Background in travel, hospitality, lifestyle brands, or consumer subscription businesses
Experience with AI-enabled products or recommendation systems
Track record in early-stage or high-growth startups where you've worn multiple hats
Understanding of community-driven or social products with high retention mechanics

Location: London (office-based or hybrid)
Reports to: Louise Truman, Founder & CEO
Team structure: Currently lean (Founder, Operations Manager, freelancers) with offshore development team in India
