About the speaker

As a VP of Product at Booking.com, Joe Futty is a powerful and versatile leader in the field of product management. With a rich background encompassing esteemed positions at top-tier tech firms, including eBay, ParkMobile and Microsoft, Joe has consistently demonstrated a keen ability to transform innovative ideas into tangible products that capture market opportunities. Joe is the product leader for Marketplace at Booking.com, where he provides strategic direction to the world’s top travel platform. He is driving the company’s main product shift to GenAI with the introduction of the AI Trip planner in summer of 2023 and other key GenAI scenarios focusing on end-to-end customer experience. His extensive experience is underscored by a successful tenure as Senior Director and GM of eBay Shipping, where he navigated the strategic product management landscape. Joe’s impact was far-reaching, including the development and launch of innovative offerings such as eBay Plus in Germany and Australia and a new cross-border trade and shipping platform. With a career also including over a decade at Microsoft, where he led innovation in the Mobile/PC content-as-advertising arena, and his instrumental role in incubating next-generation eCommerce scenarios, Joe has proven himself as a thought leader in product management. Colleagues commend him for his customer-centric and data-driven approach, making him a valuable asset in navigating digital transformations and driving growth in product companies.

The builders playbook: Making product magic with cross-functional collaboration

Google product leader Ebi Atawodi believes the real magic happens at the confluence of our differences - when all three functions of product, engineering, and design embrace each others' strengths to cast a clear vision, create a unique culture, and commit to mastery of craft. She'll discuss her tenets of the builders' playbook she's used to lead high-performing product teams at Uber, Netflix, and most recently, her team at YouTube building one of the marquee GenAI products for creators.

About the speaker

Ebi Atawodi believes in building sustainable products and platforms that impact people’s lives beyond at least two generations. Her life purpose is to bring some magic into the “everyday” through products. She is currently Director of Product at Google for YouTube Studio. She was previously Director of Product at Netflix leading Payments in EMEA, and before that she was Head of Product at Uber leading the Amsterdam team focusing on global payments experiences across all Uber apps. Ebi speaks about the trifecta of her career which shaped her perspective as a product manager having worked as an Engineer, a Designer, and as a GM in Business Operations. She started out with Uber as General Manager for Lagos in 2014 with a handful of cars on the road and grew to become Uber’s General Manager for West Africa. Before Uber, she held several roles from the Head of Corporate Communications and Sponsorships at Etisalat – where she created the Etisalat Prize for Literature – Africa’s most prestigious literary prize. She started the first half of her career as a full stack engineer working for various global brands such as Nokia, Booz & Company (now Strategy&), GlaxoSmithKlein, Channel 4 and Bupa. She holds a Bachelors with Honours in Electrical Electronics Engineering from the University of Nottingham and a Masters in Computing Science from Imperial College London with a focus on Artificial Intelligence and Infographics. Ebi is a competitive Hobie Cat sailor and passionate scuba diver (PADI rescue diver).
