On February 8th and 9th we got together in Manchester to put the challenge out to build better products via our workshops and conference. We got 24 of the world’s best product people on stage at Manchester Central and covered pretty much every element of managing products and what influences them.
We come together to share our stories and our knowledge, to learn and to grow our networks. The conference delivered on this – and then some! We also wanted to hang the first ever product conference in Manchester, on Manchester itself. This is not to say it was all about Manchester, more about the lessons this city, with its long tradition of innovation and non-conformity, has taught us; from the iterative nature of the very space we met in to the legacy our decisions can have, epitomised by the statue of Abraham Lincoln which stands close to Manchester Town Hall.
The day started with some inspiration from the Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, who laid out the stall of Manchester’s digital ambition. Then it was in to keynote sessions, led by Nilan Peiris, Lou Cordwell and Tom Loosemore. And then things got crazy. Running into 14 incredible session speakers who, quite literally, packed the Exchange rooms! And had us running around trying to crank the AC!
The day was rounded out brilliantly by three more keynotes from Gabrielle Bufrem, Lucie McLean and the just-in-from-SF, Dave Wascha. And who can forget the invention of slideception?! Which we still claim to have won… 😉
A huge, genuinely heart-felt, thank you to all the Mind the Product team, the speakers, crew, volunteers, sponsors, production and venue staff. We couldn’t have done it without these incredible people! And thank you to you, our audience, for joining us, for getting involved and for creating such an incredibly welcoming community vibe to the event. Take a look at some of the reactions to the event below!
We left you with a challenge, to build better products, in the right way, together. Come and tell us how you’re doing this at ProductTanks through 2019 – or, maybe, come join us on the stage at MTP Engage Manchester 2020.
It’s about meeting other product managers, realising the strength of the community, and getting the sense that you’re part of a movementTom Loosemore

Well that was a huge pile of fun. Met soooo many people doing incredible things in the north west and working to build that future of the UK’s product community. The future’s not so bright in the UK at the moment so thank you to everyone who made #MTPengage a ray of sunshine 🌞 https://t.co/7uAjd3ORDW
