Video: Badass: Making Users Awesome by Kathy Sierra

BY MARTIN ERIKSSON ON JULY 07 2015

In another exceptional talk at Mind the Product San Francisco, Kathy Sierra talks about what makes a product experience magical and extraordinary, and what makes those experiences different from our typical frustrating product experiences. Normally these are seen as binary choices, an experience is either humdrum or extraordinary. But Kathy argues that every experience has the potential to be transformative if we just build them the right way.

She focuses on three key areas – appreciating the context within which your product experience lives, focusing on reducing cognitive leaks and helping users find a state of flow when using your product in their context. All together it’s about focusing on making your users awesome instead of your product.
